I started volunteering at Calero Stables this week. I've always been fascinated with horses, and this was my first time really interacting with them. I rode a horse in Tahoe, but that hardly counted as anything.
Basically I groom them, saddle them, put on their bridle, lead them around, side-watch the riders (because the place is a therapeutic riding organization for disabled people), then lead the horses back, take off their stuff, and groom them again. It's hard work, but I like it. It's a pretty place, and the fall weather was fantastic today.
I only regret not bringing my camera, because I actually had a lot of free time today and there was a great potential shot and I couldn't get it. I only hope I get another chance next week.
So far a horse has snorted and blew air out of its nose, covering my arm and leg with horse snot, and another horse stepped on my right foot.
Oh and I registered to vote today.
